Lingfield Racetrack Draw Bias Explained For Beginners

Lingfield Course Walk

Beginners Question ➔ What is the draw bias?
Answer ➔ The best starting position.

5 Furlongs, 6 Furlongs
NONE No discernable draw bias worth noting. The low draw used to be considered beneficial, aside from stall 1 over 6 furlongs, but a spate of winners from the 1 stall quashed that theory.

Watch out for trap 1. You need to be rapid from the blocks to win from the one gate.

7 Furlongs, 8 Furlongs
NONE Over 7&8 furlongs, there is no discernable draw bias worth noting.

There was an apparent draw bias favouring the high draw over 7&8 furlongs during the early years on the Lingfield equitrack, but over recent years that trend has failed to reproduce itself. Most likely due to the new polytrack racing surface.

9 Furlongs & Above
NONE Further distances there is no draw bias to be found statistically.

Official Lingfield AW Polytrack Course Details

Lingfield is the only all weather and turf flat, with a jumps racecourse to boot.

The AW course is 1.5 miles around, in an oval shape.

It goes uphill in some places, downhill the next, with a tight turn at one end and a huge sweeping bend that goes on for forever at the other.

From what I've seen as a punter, it's quick all the way, whatever the distance, so a strong test of stamina.

Nowhere to hide for your sneaky hold up horses. Front runners get caught out also.

A real conundrum, for connections, jockeys and punters alike.

#betting note: Good Jockeys
Proper jockeys will make you dough, not the draw.
