I don't know very much about US Racing and US Racehorses in general. I do know the Breeders Cup meeting attracts some of the best horses from around the world.
On Saturday, it will be Breeders Cup Classic time. A 1 mile race over the dirt at Monmouth Park.
Curlin & Street Sense are two American racehorses I have seen run. Street Sense won the 2007 Kentucky Derby (video) with a run from back to front off of the Churchill Downs last bend, that needs to be seen to be believed.
However, Curlin reversed the run off the tighter track at Pimlico to win the 2007 Preakness Stakes (video) with a battling display. Curlin did not look a possible winner entering the last furlong after being headed, but fought back in style.
Lining up against the American runners is Aidan O'Brien's George Washington. Exactly the type of classy horse that could spring a surprise, and at likely odds too, around the 16/1 mark with most UK bookmakers.
For betting purposes, I cannot possibly oppose Street Sense. I shan't be gambling with anything like big stakes however.

George Washington's Breeders' Cup Classic bid ended in tragedy as he suffered a fatal injury in a race won in brilliant fashion by Curlin at Monmouth Park.
The Aidan O'Brien-trained four-year-old showed up handily early in the $5million contest, which was run in sunshine but on sloppy ground following almost two full days of rain.
But he soon began to struggle and as Curlin powered away to beat Hard Spun, George Washington's rider Mick Kinane dismounted his horse on the final bend and he was quickly attended by racecourse veterinary staff, with the screens immediately surrounding the stricken colt.
He could not be saved, however, and the decision was taken to have him humanely destroyed.
O'Brien's wife Anne-Marie was in floods of tears on the rail and was then consoled by her husband as the family walked back into the paddock.
On-course veterinarian and equine joint expert Dr Wayne McIlwraith said George Washington suffered an open fracture of both sesamoid bones.
Dr McIlwraith added: "The decision was made very quickly. The injury was bad and Aidan O'Brien made the request for euthanisation. He was with the horse.
"Typically these injuries occur in the last part of the race. They are more fatigued so they have got less support to the joint.
"And that's when the injuries normally occur."
Kinane said: "He did well to stay up. He was brave. He didn't go down. He stayed up on it. He saved me."
