Benn V Eubank Fight Replays

Conor Benn V Eubank Jr 🥊 April 26 2025

Conor Benn is scheduled to fight Chris Eubank Jr on April 26 in a much awaited clash of the Benn and Eubank sons.

I remember the golden years of the glossy, but also gritty British middleweight 90's era when the likes of the world class Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, Michael Watson, Joe Calzaghe and Steve Collins, plus the decent, but slightly lesser in quality fighters like Robin Reid and Herol Graham were going at it on the regular.

Well, Conor and Junior might not quite have the quality thier father's possessed, but they do have the fighting spirit, of that you can have no doubt.

These boys could have lived nicely off thier dad's dough and legacy, without getting up at 5am to train and get punched on the nose for a living.

Watching them fight for themselves, and thier father's honour, is sure going to be a boxing night to remember one way or the other. Fair play to them both.

Supersports Excellent Commentary With Barry McGuigan & Jim McDonnell

Promoted by Barry Hearn’s Matchroom Sport, the 500k purse was an 80/20 split between the fighters. Benn was the WBO middleweight champion, I recall he got 400k, Eubank only £100'000. Eubank was more interested in the money the title and the limelight could open the door to. Beating a fearsome Nigel Benn would catapult him onto the world middleweight stage in one fell swoop, if he could do it...

Promoted by Don King, the Benn Eubank rematch £2.5m purse blockbuster, drew 19 million ITV viewers on Oct 9, 1993, as Kalle Sauerland notes◢
A feud that started on November 18, 1990… 19 million viewing on terrestrial television, 500 million viewers around the world, you don’t need to sell it.”
The first match-up was a promotional breakthrough fight for Hearn, it launched him as a top UK promoter and ignited the Benn-Eubank family rivalry.

The Benn Eubank Boxing Family Name Rivalry

◢ The Press Conference Chaos

The recent madness at a press conference where Chris Eubank Jr slapped Conor with an egg, sparking a brawl, further highlights the explosivenes of this familial boxing rivalry, with Eubank Sr’s past comments and presence managin to still shape the storyline, even if he’s not the one throwing punches this time.

◢ The Rescheduled Fight

Fast forward to 2025, the Conor Benn vs Chris Eubank Jr fight has been rescheduled for April 26 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Chris Eubank Senior is still saying The Fight Will Not Go Ahead that saturday night...

There hasnt been a direct conflict betweeen Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Senior re a personal altercation or feud or anything like that between the two. However, the names are interrtwined due to the long~standing rivalry between the Benn and Eubank families, particullarly through Conor Benns ongoing tension with Chris Eubank Jr, and Chris Eubank Srs historical rivalry with Conor’s father, the legendry brawler and ex army man Nigel Benn.

◢ The Legacy of Eubank Sr. vs. Nigel Benn

Chris Eubank Sr, still a boxing legend in my eyez, fought Nigel Benn twice in the 1990s, with their bouts becoming iconic fights in British boxing midleweight history. Eubank Sr won the first fight in 1990 and their 1993 rematch ended in a draw. This rivalry set the stage for the next generations conflict, pitting Conor Benn against Chris Eubank Jr. Other top British middleweight fighters were around at the time with epic records and ability, such as the ever unbeaten Joe Calzaghe, the unfotunate Michael Watson and legendary Irishman Steve Collins, but all that's a story for another day.

So, while Eubank Sr himself hasn’t had a direct confromtation with Conor Benn, he has been vocul about his concerns regarding his sons matchups, including the planned fight with lightr Conor and his son agreeing to cut weight down to what Chris Senior consides to be a dangerous level. When I saw Jr in a photo [1] [2] after his weight cutting, I had to agree.

◢ The 2022 Cancellation

In 2022, when Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn were scheduled to fight, the bout was cancelled just days before the event after Conor tested positiove for the banned substance clomiphene. Chris Eubank Sr publicly expressed relief at the cancellation, citing safety concerns for his son.

He referenced the tragic loss of his other son, Sebastian, in 2021, and argued that the fight posed too great a risk, especially given the catchweight of 157 pounds, which he believed endangered his sons health. Eubank Sr was adamant that he had intervened to stop the fight, emphasizing that his son’s life couldn’t be put in jeopardy.

◢ The Influence of Eubank Sr.

While Chris Eubank Sr hasn’t clashed directly with Conor Benn atall, his influence looms large over the fight for sure. Conor, for his part, is driven by a desire to avenge his Dad Nigel's loss to Eubank Sr, adding a layer of family legacy to the buildup, which of course, sells the fight bigtime.

Fight Weight Details Explanation

The upcoming fight between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn, scheduled for April 26, 2025, at Spurs stadium, is set to take place at the middleweight limit of 160 pounds. This is a significant shift from their originally planned fightnite in October of 2022, which was to be contested at a catchweight of 157 pounds (11st 2lb) (71kg), but was postponed due to Benn's positive drug test.

◢ Middleweight Limit Is Fair Enough

Ok, so the fight between Conor and Eubank Jr, will be fought at the middleweight limitation of 11st 4lb (160lb) (72.5kg). Benn, who is usually considered a welterweight at 147 pounds, will be moving up two weight divisions to meet Eubank at 160, his highest career weight for a fight.

Yes, there’s a rehydration clause in place, limiting both fighters to no more than 170 pounds on fight night. They can only gain up to 10 pounds after the official weigh in. A fight clause designed to balance some of Eubanks natural size advantage, given Benns significant jump from welter.

While this restriction is stricter than their 2022 agreement (where rehydration was reportedly capped at around about 80 kilos), its considered reasonable within boxing norms, such as those seen in IBF title fights. It gives Eubank more room to rehydrate compared to the earlier terms. His father still say's the fight will not go ahead btw. He was right last time one way or the other. We shall soon see.

In Short: the fight is at 160 lbs with a rehydration cap of 170 lbs on fight night.
