2025 Southwell Winter All Weather Derby

The 2025 Southwell Winter Derby will be run today, Saturday, February the 22nd.

Southwell gets the nod for the venue. I still can't tell you why they changed it from Lingfield. Lingfield is a tougher track, more of a test of stamina, with ups and downs like Epsom.

8 runners line up this year. Royal Champion is the 5/4 fav. Military Academy not far behind at 2/1. 3 outsiders at 100/1 you can probably discount. Persica and Champagne Prince (probable selection) make up the opposition at around 5/1 each. I remain undecided as I write at 11:09 am.
