How Is Real Poker Played? The One You See On The Tele?

Heres a quick rundown of how to play Texas Hold'em, the version you typically see on TV, especially in online poker games.

🂡 The Basics:
Players: Typically 2-10 players at a table.
Goal: Make the best fivecard hand possible using your two personal cards (called "hole cards") and the five community cards dealt in the center of the table.

🂢 How the Game Is Played:
The Deal
# Blinds: The game starts with two players posting forced bets called the "small blind" and "big blind" to get the action going.
# Hole Cards: Each player is dealt two private cards (the "hole cards").

🂣 The Betting Rounds
There are four betting rounds in Texas Hold’em:

# Pre-flop: After the hole cards are dealt, the first betting round begins, starting with the player to the left of the big blind.
## The Flop: Three community cards are dealt face-up in the center of the table. These cards are shared by all players. A new round of betting follows.
### The Turn: A fourth community card is dealt face-up. Anther round of betting hapens.
#### The River: The fifth and final community card is dealt face-up. The final round of betting takes place.

🂫 Betting Actions
During each round, players can:

# Check: If no one has bet, you can check, meaning you dont bet but remain in the game.
## Bet: You can place a wager.
### Call: Match the previous bet to stay in the round.
#### Raise: Increase the previous bet.
##### Fold: Drop out of the hand and forfeit your cards.

🂬 The Showdown
If there are two or more players left after the final round of betting, there’s a shwdown. Players reveal their hole cards, and the best five-card hand wins.

🂭 Hand Rankings (From Best to Worst)
>> Royal Flush: A, K, Q, J, 10 (all same suit)
>> Straight Flush: Five consecutive cards of the same suit
>> Four of a Kind: Four carfs of the same rank
>> Full House: Three of a kind + a pair
>> Flush: Five cards of the same suit (not in sequeence)
>> Straight: Five consecutive cards (not all the same suit)
>> Three of a Kind: Three cards of the same rank
>> Two Pair: Two pairs of cards of the same rank
>> One Pair: Two cards of the same rank
>> High Card: If no one has any of the above, the highest card wins.

🂵 Important Things to Remember:
1) Community Cards: These are shared by everyone and form the basis of everyones hand. Combuining them with your hole cards, you make your best five-card combination.

2) Bluffing: A big part of the game is trying to trick your opponents into thinking you have a better (or worse) hand than you actually do.

3) Position Matters: Players who act later in the betting rounds (closer to the "button") have more information since they can see what otjers do first.

🂶 Strategy Basics
# Start with good hands: Not every hand is worth playying. Playy strong hole cards (like high pairs or face cards) in early positions, and take more risks in later positions.

## Observe others: Look for patterns in your opponents betting. Are they aggresive? Do they fold often? This can give you clues about their hand strength.

Poker - Card Game Variations

🂡 Texas Hold'em
The most popular poker variant worldwide.
Each player gets two private cards (hole cards), and five community cards are dealt face up.
Players use the best five-card combination from the seven available (two hole cards and five community cards).


🂢 Omaha
Similar to Texas Hold'em but with four hole cards.
Players must use exactly two of their hole cards and three of the fivve community cards to make the best hand.
Popular variants: Omaha High, Omaha Hi-Lo.


🂣 Seven-Card Stud
No comunity cards; each player is dealt seven cards, three face down and four face up.
Players must use the best five-card hand from the seven dealt.


🂤 Razz
A lowball version of SevenCard Stud.
The goal is to make the lowest possible hand (ace-2-3-4-5 is the best hand).


🂥 Five-Card Draw
Each player is dealt five private czrds.
After a round of betting, players can discard up to three cards and draw new ones to improve their hand.
Another round of betting follows.


🂥 Triple Draw Lowball
A lowball variant where players are trying to make the lowest hand (ace-2-3-4-5 being the best).
Players can draw cards up to three times to improve their hands, with beting rounds between each draw.


🂦 Badugi
A unique lowball variant played with four cards.
The goal is to make the lowest hand with one card from each suit (no pairs).
Players can discard and draw cards to improve their hand.


🂧 Pineapple (and variations like Crazy Pineapple)
Similar to Texas Hold'em, but each player is dealt three hole cards instead of two.
In some variations (Crazy Pineapple), players discard one card after the floop, while in others, it’s after the turn.


🂨 Chinese Poker
Each player is dealt 13 cards and must arrange them into tree hands: 2 five-card hands and one three-card hand.
The hands are compared to those of other players, and points are awarded based on how hands rank against each other.


🂩 Five-Card Stud
Similar to Seven-Card Stud but with only five cards.
Players are dealt two cards face down and three cards face up, and they must make the best five-card hand.


🂪 HORSE Poker
A mixed poker game that rotates between five variants: Texas Hold'em, Omaha Hi-Lo, Razz, Seven-Card Stud, and Seven-Card Stud Hi-Lo.
Each game is played for a set perio before switching to the next one.


🂫 2-7 Triple Draw
A lowball game, where the goal is to make the lowest possible hand (the best hand being 2-3-4-5-7).
Players draw up to three times to improve their hand.


🂬 Strip Poker
A fun, informal variation where the stakes are often personal items of clothing insstead of money or chips.
The game follows the rules of the variant being played (often Texas Hold'em or Five-Card Draw).


🂭 Stud Hi-Lo
A split-pot game where the pot is divided between the highest hand and the lowest hand (using the "Ace to 5" lowball rule, where hands like A-2-3-4-5 are the best low).


🂮 5-Card Omaha
A variation of Omaha where players are dealt five hole cards instead of four, and they still must use two hole cards and three community cards to make their best hand.

These are just a few examples of the many different poker typess. Many of these games also have regional variations or house rules, which can lead to unique twists in game play.
