3:55 Edwina Sheeran (25/1) had a good 2023 season, winning 4 races, from 48 up to 63. She was then off, for a 9 month break. I presume she was injured. Today she carries 63, with promising apprentice Ethan Jones claiming 5lb. It might be a crucial 5.

The comeback trail has seen her have 2 runs in 2 weeks, beaten 45l, then 9 lengths. This is her 3rd run in 3 weeks. It's a heavy workload for a middle distancer.

If she's fit now, and it's obviously very much an if, the 25/1 is going to look pretty big come the end of the race. She has been backed this morning in places.

4:28 Charging Thunder (18/1) hasn't won for a couple of years, but he's no mug. He's been highly tried over the 2 years. Once rated at 98, he's down to a very workable 83.

Arguably a winner waiting to happen. Last 4 races odds have been 13/8, 13/2, 9/2 and 15/2. Best effort was a 2l 4th over the Chelmsford AW over 2m at 87.

A repeat of that over the 2m at Southwell today will put him right in the fun zone, at ridiculous odds. His tissue price was 6/1. I'll take the 18's.

6:08 Dapperling (25/1) is a Hannon horse in a G5 hcp on the AW. She wasn't beaten far last year in G2 handicaps at York and Doncaster.

She has AW form. Nothing to scream about. Nothing to put me off. She goes on the surface. The extra furlong today might help her find the 2 lengths she needs to start troubling judges again. The 25/1 is worth a punt.
