RACE COMMENTARY5:10 Top weight Young Fire (20/1) is surely worth an interest having squeezed his way into a grade 5 handicap over the Newcastle straight AW mile. It's hardly his 1st rodeo here over the C&D at this grade. 2 from 2 as it stands. I am slightly baffled with the drift from 10's to 20's, but I'm not going to argue.
7:10 Global Humor (20/1) is down to a lowly looking 52. He has competed at the mid 70's as a 3yo. He's clearly in the weights happy zone. That said, trainer Jim Goldie has given 3lb claimer Mark Winn the ride for the 1st time. One could argue that puts him on 49, if the apprentice jock doesn't make a 5lb mistake.
A hold up horse over the straight 6 is not a complicated ride for any pro circuit jockey. Winn is more than capable of bringing this one home late at big odds. No "Winning" puns here I'm afraid. Cheers, Sandracer.
