Race Overview: A difficult race to work out, with so much untapped potential on show, and so only a narrow vote goes to Captain Esteem, who can make the most of a prior outing to beat the likes of Dinarius, Zabeel Tiger and Midships to name but a few. Captain Esteem finished a creditable fourth on his Goodwood debut in the race won by stablemate Bobs Surprise, and although not fancied then, he can put the experience to good use to open his account. By Mark Of Esteem, and trained by Barry Hills, who sent out Thousand Words to take this last year, he holds a Derby entry, and will obviously be suited by further in time, but gets the vote here. Zabeel Tiger, a full-brother to Silca's Gift, has by all accounts been working well on the Lambourn gallops, and will be expected to do well. Tom Tate knows how to get one ready, and Dinarius, entered for a couple of big sales races this autumn, is sure to know his job, while Midships hails from a stable in form. The market may reveal which of Richard Hannon's is the pick, but we are happy to side with Captain Esteem.

Race Overview: Zifaaf gets the vote over Anna Towkaska, Dangerous Dancer, Fidelia and Circle Of Love. This is yet another race that that could throw up plenty of future winners, but on this occasion it is best to rely on Zifaaf who will know what the game is all about, having had three outings so far. Granted, the daughter of Silver Hawk may have been slightly flattered by her proximity to Jamboretta at Goodwood last time, but she will benefit from the step up in trip here, and can open her account today under Richard Hills. Anna Towkaska, a half-sister to Stotsfold, picked up really well in the closing stages once the penny had dropped on her Lingfield bow, and she is entitled to figure in proceedings, while Dangerous Dancer showed marked improvement at Salisbury last time and is another to consider. Fidelia will have her supporters as well, having contested a Listed race at Chester where she raced much too keenly. If she settles better today, she is another that can go close. Circle Of Love showed enough in two starts as a juvenile to warrant respect, and she will undoubtedly come on for the run, and any market support for the likes of Beseech and Dabawiyah should be heeded. Zifaaf is our pick though.

Race Overview: Atraas is the pick over Ridgewell, Golden Prospect and Oceana Gold, with Rule Of Life and Tom Paris a couple more to consider in a competitive handicap. There are plenty open to improvement here, non more so than Atraas who created a favourable impression when opening his account at Chepstow 17-days ago, fully justifying his short price. He may not have beaten much that day, but does not look too harshly treated for his handicap bow, and could go on to better things. Ridgewell was a $225,000 purchase, and may in time be better than a Wolverhampton maiden winner, while Golden Prospect has done nothing wrong in two starts this term, gaining back-to-back victories at Warwick and Thirsk. The Warwick form looks particularly good, given the subsequent success of runner-up Private Peachey at Bath recently, and although a bit higher in the handicap now, John Hills' charge is a leading contender, and the trainer did send out the winner of the corresponding event 12-months ago. Oceana Gold won well at Newmarket last time, and Rule Of Life will at least appreciate the step up in trip on breeding. Tom Paris may be best watched on his return to the fray, with preference for Atraas.

Race Overview: Treat looks head and shoulders above the rest and should get back to winning ways, with Thiella and Basaata the ones to chase her home. Mick Channon's filly has been keeping very good company since landing a Nottingham maiden last year, finishing second in the Group 1 Fillies' Mile, before returning to action to take on Finscal Beo and co in the English and Irish 1,000 Guineas. This represents a drop in class for the daughter of Barathea who should stay the extra two furlongs here, and it could be significant that she holds an entry in the Ribblesdale Stakes. Mind you she is also pencilled in for the Coronation Stakes at the Royal meeting just in case connections decide to drop her back to a mile. First things first though, and she should certainly be good enough to score today en-route. Thiella failed to pick up on yielding ground at Navan last time and this lightly-raced filly is expected to go well before being stepped back up in grade for the Pretty Polly Stakes at The Curragh at the end of the month. The rest of today's opponents should not worry connections of the selection, although a watchful eye should be kept on the reappearing Basaata who also has some big-race entries. However, it will take a smart performance to stop Treat from obliging.

Race Overview: Rockfield Tiger is out to redeem his reputation and can do so at the expense of newcomers Billion Dollar Kid, Raven's Pass and River Proud. Jamie Osborne has always had a high opinion of Rockfield Tiger who shaped with abundant promise behind subsequent Woodcote winner Declaration Of War on his debut at Newmarket last month. On the back of that he was fully expected at Haydock next time, but let his supporters down, finishing fifth. He may just be worth dropping back to five furlongs in time, but connections want to keep him at this trip for the time being, as he takes a step nearer his main target, the Goffs Million. His experience should carry him through today at least, with a whole host of interesting debutantes in opposition. Billion Dollar Kid is well entered up and will benefit from slightly further in time, and Dane O'Neill rides the other one from the Hannon yard, Kyrie Eleison. Raven's Pass is another that will do well when put over a mile in time, and the Barry Hills inmate Good Gorsoon is sure to be well prepared. Richard Quinn teams up with his old guvnor Paul Cole again to partner River Proud who is entered for a big sales race at Doncaster in the autumn, and all in all there is plenty to look forward too for the future, with Rockfield Tiger the one to latch on to now.

Race Overview: Goodbye is unexposed and can make a winning handicap bow, with Buckie Massa, Kindlelight Blue, Summer Dancer and Risque Heights all likely to play a part. Alan Swinbank sent Goodbye to Newbury for her debut last August when she was outpaced and in rear in the race won by Silca Chiave. However, a winter on her back seems to have done her the world of good, judged on two good efforts, at Newmarket and more recently Beverley where she did not get the best of luck-in-running. She has been given a mark of just 72 for her handicap debut, and that could turn out to be an act of kindness by the assessor. Brighton second Buckie Massa is still well treated compared to last month, while Kindlelight Blue is slipping down the weights. Summer Dancer may do better covered up, having seen plenty of daylight when second at Newmarket last time, and Risque Heights will surely be all the better for his recent return at Windsor. They can all play a part, with Goodbye the one that makes most appeal.

Race Overview: Mujahaz gets the call over Moraine, Calzaghe and Pret A Porter, with Arctic Wings another worth a mention. This looks fairly wide-open, but Mujahaz showed enough talent when scoring first time back at the Berkshire track in May, to warrant further support here. The step up in trip proved a revelation for John Dunlop's charge, and as the form has been franked by Madaarek since, he must surely go close. Moraine is one-from-one after her debut success in a Folkestone fillies' maiden, but she has to shoulder co-topweight, while Calzaghe appeared not to go through with his effort when narrowly beaten at Wolverhampton, but there was 14-lengths back to the third, so he still has to be respected. Cathy Gannon has done well since going to ride work for the likes of Bryn Palling and David Evans, and the latter puts her up on Pret A Porter who did nothing wrong when winning at Warwick last month. Arctic Wings might just find conditions too fast, and for the winner we return to Mujahaz.

Race Overview: Not many appear up to the task in the finale, in which Holiday Cocktail is taken to get the better of Sol Rojo, Bavarica and Scottish River. Holiday Cocktail gained his first Turf success when landing an apprentice event under Rorie Moore ten days ago, proving that he is not just an all-weather performer, and with the capable Mark Walford up, looks well enough weighted to score. Sol Rojo goes well for the trainer's son, and will be all the better for his return from a winter break in another leg of this series at Newmarket three weeks ago when a fair third. Bavarica stayed on late in the day at Lingfield, and may be worth a try over further, while Scottish River has also looked a bit one-paced on his last two visits here. It is difficult to fancy any of the rest that line up here, and Holiday Cocktail should prove to be the answer, in receipt of 10lb from Sol Rojo.
