Turf TV To Turf Out SIS In The Long Run?
The turf war between Turf TV and SIS is in full swing.Turf TV is the new name in British Horse Racing when it comes to the delivery of live racing and betting shows at your local highstreet betting shop.
Highstreet Betting Shops Are Subscribing To Turf TV
British Bookmakers already on board and fully signed up to the new Turf TV service are Paddypower and Victor Chandler. The London based Better Bookmakers have joined and so has Irish Bookmaker BoylesportsAlphameric PLC are the firm behind Turf TV in conjunction with RUK (racing uk), and already have bookmakers Mark Jarvis, Jenning's, Eastwood, Stanley's, Betfred and Coral on board utilising their software display services, so i'll wager they'll be subcribing to Turf TV sooner rather than later.
Ladbrokes and William Hill use the same software, but hold a 45% share between them in SIS and therefore have a vested in not subscribing to Turf TV. But no matter what they say to the Contrary in the meantime about extra cost etc, they'll join up too in the end, possibly after they've bought some shares and secured a Cheaper Deal with Turf TV, like they have with SIS.
Many Racetracks Have Signed Exclusive Deals With Turf TV
Official Turf TV Blurb..From 2008, AMRAC (Amalgamated Racing) has announced that it has EXCLUSIVE licenses to the racing from 30 of the UK's best race courses including Ascot, Cheltenham, Epsom, Newmarket, Newbury, Goodwood, Aintree and York.
What are some key points of the AMRAC service?
♠ AMRAC's betting shop service (from 1st April 07) begins with EXCLUSIVE racing from Newbury, Chester, Goodwood, York and Bangor, providing pictures and data through to the end of 2007. These racing meetings WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FROM SIS, nor will the betting shows.
♠ From January 2008 AMRAC's betting shop service will be extended to include EXCLUSIVE racing from a total of 30 courses, coupling those above with racing from premium courses like Cheltenham, Newmarket, Aintree, Epsom, Sandown and 20 other courses. Once again THESE RACE MEETINGS will not be available from SiS, nor will the betting shows.
Sandracer Comment: Not the that betting shop punters could care any less who actually delivers the live racing pictures, the odds, the software powering it all etc. The main thing is gamblers are not inconvenienced by all these racing industry turf wars and financial/technical arguements that seem to be cropping up left, right and centre lately. Time will tell.
