REPEAL-UIGEA.ORG was created as a place for those interested in taking back the right of US Citizens to decide how best to spend their own time and money, without undue government censorship.
It is not the duty of the US Government to spend taxpayers money policing how adults spend their time, or interfering in activities otherwise legal, except for the fact these same activities happen to be over the internet.

The UIGEA
The UIGEA (unlawful internet gaming enforcement act) was signed into American law by George Bush after the act was pinned onto the back of the 2006 Port Security Bill with half an hour to go before the close of recess. Therefore denying representives who had gone home time to notice the curious addition, therefore denying debate on an inclusion into law of a an internet gaming ban, a ban that has been knocked back by the house many times over a decade. Ain't democracy grand? So, Americans are banned from gambling online, not because gambling online is actually illegal, but the funding of US residents online gaming accounts is. Unless of course, the American punter wants to bet on US horseracing, or the state lotteries. In other words, the American govt is playing the protectionist game, happily ignoring the WTO (world trade organisation) ruling that the UIGEA is bang out of order.
About The UIGEA
1 - "Unlawful Internet gambling" is defined as betting, receiving or transmitting a bet that is illegal under federal, state or tribal law. The Act says to ignore the intermediary computers and look to the place where the bet is made or received.
2 - "No person engaged in the business of betting or wagering may knowingly accept" any money transfers in any way from a person participating in unlawful Internet gambling. This includes credit cards, electronic fund transfers, and even paper checks. But it is limited to Internet gambling businesses, not mere players. It also would not cover payment processors, except under a theory of aiding and abetting.
3 - Exempts Horseracing and Indian Casinos who interconnect via the internet.
