Ladies Day - 2007 Epsom Derby Festival

The Vodafone Derby Festival, held annually at Epsom Downs Racecourse, is one of the most famous and iconic events in both sporting and social calendars. The first day of this prestigious Festival, Ladies Day, conjures up images of style, sophistication and socialising.

Ladies Day has fast become one of the highlights of the Festival and this year's is sure to be no different; 'Style on the Downs' epitomises the essence of Ladies Day, where chic and stylish summer outfits and millinery are showcased.

The renowned 'Style on the Downs' competition will once again flaunt the Ladies Day fashion and style. This innovative competition provides an exciting opportunity for the most stylish lady on the Downs to win a fabulous prize. All ladies will be eligible to enter with registration for the competition taking place in the Vodafone Village. A panel of celebrity judges from the fashion and racing world will then select finalists to be entered into the live final which takes place in the Winner's Enclosure and is broadcast on BBC One.

The judges will be looking for the lady whose outfit fills the following criteria:
- Style and originality
- Attention to detail
- Suitability of outfit for racing
- Appreciation of the current fashion trends

This year Tara O'Callaghan, who trained with the infamous Philip Treacy, has created an exclusive Derby Millinery Collection whilst Emma Hope, one of the UK's most original and well known shoe designers, will be creating a bespoke 'Derby' shoe. Both of these collections will be modelled on Ladies Day.

The feature race on Ladies Day is 'The Vodafone Oaks'. This Group 1 race takes place over the famous 1 1/2 mile Derby course, and is contended by only the finest 3-year-old fillies, ensuring ladies receive the spot light both on and off the course.
