Official 2007 Vodafone Derby Festival Hat Maker Is Tara O'Callaghan
Tara O'Callaghan's millinery(hat making) career began in the nineties, when she studied Fashion Design and Technology at the London College of Fashion. Her lifelong passion for sculpture, elegance, form and fashion was perfectly complemented when, in her final year, she was paid the ultimate accolade and approached to become apprentice to the inimitable milliner, Philip Treacy. It was here, at the notorious studio of Treacy, on London's Elizabeth Street, in the full glare of the world's fashion press and glitterati, that Tara honed her technical ability.Today, Tara's studio, a bejeweled oasis in the South of London, is where she designs and creates the hats for department stores, independent retailers and private clients, worldwide. Tara commented, "I am absolutely honoured to have been asked to collaborate for The 2007 Vodafone Derby Festival. I have always had a keen love of racing, often enjoying a fun day out at a racecourse with friends. The experience from which will inspire me to create the most stylish, elegant and appropriate hats for such a fabulous and iconic event that The Vodafone Derby Festival has become."
The bespoke 'Derby Collection' can be previewed at Tara's London studio and will be modelled by Claire Dwyer, the 'Face of the Festival' at The Vodafone Derby Festival on the 1st and 2nd June, at Epsom Downs Racecourse
